Finances for elections before November are approved by the government: Dastgir

ISLAMABAD  – Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan, the minister of energy, announced on Monday that the coalition government has authorised the funding needed to organise free and fair elections in this nation.

He told a private television programme that after dissolving legislatures in the middle of August, the following elections should be place before November.

The calendar for the general elections in 2023 would be revealed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), he said. In response to a question on the interim system, he stated that the ECP is solely responsible for holding the next elections in a transparent way and that the Interim government has no involvement in holding general elections.

All political parties, according to Khurram Dastgir, believe that the upcoming elections should be held on schedule. He insisted that there was no plot to postpone the polls.

He acknowledged that there are concerns among the people of Sindh and Balochistan about the census and delimitation process data regarding the delay in the election process caused by incomplete delimitation process and data.

He firmly asserted that there was no justification for postponing the next elections.

In response to questions about the temporary prime minister, he stated that the coalition parties will ultimately decide on the interim prime minister’s name. In response to a query on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif deserves praise for properly reviving all international ties and public welfare initiatives.

In response to a different question on the pace of Pakistan’s development efforts, he stated that voters will choose the PML-N to establish the country’s next administration in order for us to make rapid progress throughout the whole nation.
