European Games::
Azerbaijani athletes displayed impressive performance at the European Games.
48 nations sent almost 7,000 athletes to Poland to compete in the much awaited 2023 European Games. 101 participants from 14 different sports, including archery, badminton, beach soccer, boxing, fencing, judo, karate, muay thai, kickboxing, shooting, taekwondo, triathlon, and more, competed for Azerbaijan. These athletes showed off their abilities and grit in these events.
Azerbaijan places 24th overall in the medal standings.
The sportsmen from Azerbaijan demonstrated their skill and commitment by winning a remarkable 11 medals overall. 3 gold, 2 silver, and 6 bronze medals were among them. With their outstanding performance, the Azerbaijani team placed 24th overall in the medal rankings, furthering the nation’s sports accomplishments.
The European Games are concluded with a spectacular closing ceremony.
A stunning closing ceremony staged at the Henik Reyman stadium marked the triumphant end of the 2023 European Games. The moving performance of Poland’s national anthem opened the celebration, which was then followed by a march of flags from all the participating nations. Muhammad Abdullayev, a boxing silver medallist, got the honour of carrying the national flag for Azerbaijan.

The European Games Keep Promoting Sporting Excellence
Since its inception in Azerbaijan in 2015, the European Games have provided a forum for cultivating good sportsmanship, encouraging athletic performance, and creating international unity. Nearly 6,000 competitors from 50 different nations competed in the multi-sport event in 30 different sports. 15 summer Olympic sports and 2 non-Olympic sports were included in the games, which showcased the variety and fervour of competitors from around Europe.
