Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, reclaims first place, while Steve Smith moves up to second.

Babar Azam, Pakistan’s all-format skipper, dropped one rank to sixth after the most recent ICC Men’s Test Batters Rankings saw a dramatic alteration.

He had 862 rating points at the time and was ranked sixth.

With scores of 10 and 18 against Australia in the second Ashes Test at Lord’s, former England Test captain Joe Root dropped to second place.

Steve Smith, a seasoned Australian batsman who scored his 32nd Test century at Lord’s, moved up four spots to second. The formerly stated number six was the former Australian captain.

With just one rating point separating him from Smith, New Zealand veteran Kane Williamson moved up a notch to rule the rooster. Since August 2021, Williamson has not occupied the top position.

Going into the much anticipated third Ashes Test against England this week at Headingley, Marnus Labuschagne (third), Travis Head (fourth), and Usman Khawaja (seventh) are all within striking distance of the top spot in the Test batter rankings

The top five batters according to the most current rankings are separated by just 17 rating points, so if players perform well in Leeds, further change may be in store.

Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes of England both advanced on the most current Test rankings for batsmen following their strong showings at Lord’s, moving up 24 and nine spots, respectively, to 18th and 23rd. Several quicks also fared well on the new list for bowlers.

Australian bowler Pat Cummins, who is now second overall on the most recent Test rankings for bowlers, has closed the distance on India’s Ravichandran Ashwin. Mitchell Starc, a teammate, climbed two spots to take over 14th.

James Anderson, a seasoned seamer, slid from second to fourth, cancelling out Cummins’ surge. Josh Tongue, a rookie for England, advanced 27 positions to rank 59 as a result of his excellent performance in London.

On the list of Test all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin of India still hold the top two spots, with Stokes moving up one rank to fourth and Root up one slot to seventh.

The most recent ODI rankings also changed, as the current ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier competition in Zimbabwe has already delivered a lot of highlights with both the bat and the ball.

Harry Tector, a rising star in Ireland, is now tied for sixth place on the most current list of ODI hitters. The dependable Pathum Nissanka of Sri Lanka climbs eight positions to tie for 38th place, and the captain of the Netherlands, Scott Edwards, goes up five spaces to tie for 35th.

Josh Hazlewood of Australia continues to hold the top place among bowlers for one-day internationals, followed by Maheesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka (up 21 spots to 32nd) and Chris Sole of Scotland (up 23 spaces to 39th), all of whom climbed the rankings following impressive showings in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
